Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Lake Manyara National Park
Your first destination is beautiful Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its tree-climbing lions and soda lake full of hippo and tinted pink with huge flocks of flamingos. As you approach the park, the Rift Valley Escarpment looms on the horizon, forming a spectacular backdrop. In the park’s varied environments you can easily observe at close range giraffe, elephant, zebra, buffalo, baboons, and more. As the sun sets, ascend the escarpment to your overnight accommodations in the Ngorongoro Highlands.

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater / Serengeti – Ndutu
Enter the Ngorongoro Conservation Area for a day game drive in its famed Crater, often referred to as Africa’s Eden for the diversity and density of its wildlife. The descent into the collapsed volcano, 2,500 feet below the rim, commences an unforgettable safari journey. Picnic lunch in the crater. In the mid-afternoon head west to the short grass plains of the legendary Serengeti and a game drive en route to Lake Ndutu in the south.

Day 3: Serengeti – Ndutu
Today your guide will explore with you the vast Ndutu area in search of the best game-viewing, dependent on the daily migration patterns. You may take an early morning pre-dawn game drive and late afternoon game drive at dusk – the times of the day at which the animals are most active – with a rest at the lodge for lunch. Or, enjoy a full day drive with a picnic lunch to explore a greater range of the southern Serengeti ecosystem.

Day 4: Serengeti – Ndutu / Olduvai Gorge / Arusha
After breakfast and a final game drive return eastward, stopping along the way to visit Olduvai Gorge, site of Louis and Mary Leakey’s archeological discoveries of early human ancestors dating back 1.8 million years. Picnic lunch above the gorge and optional descent down to visit the dig sites.
Continue to Arusha Town to see this bustling commercial center of northern Tanzania, shop, and enjoy a final relaxing dinner before transferring to the Kilimanjaro International Airport and your flight home.
